Phosphine is an immersive performance anchored around two cores. The first core is developed on a heroic anthropomorphic figure, Phosphine. The second core is defined by an abstract landscape, in a process of sonic and visual exploration of a physical natural phenomenon: the ignis fatuus.
PHOSPHINE
Processed through a cinematic feeling, this extended classic tragedy moves throughout illusory electronic scapes, faded voices and virtual 3D imagery breaking into a landscape of algorithms and noises.
Sculpted in VR, with Medium, Phosphine is a character constantly morphing during the narrative. The first "form" has evolved into more and different others. I tried to mold a character and his features according to his role in the narrative, in this case a gas going into a chemical combustion thus changing itself. Birth - action - disintegration.
Ignes Fatui is the audio-visual project of Alessandro Adriani (music) and Imaginaria (Paulina Greta) The Ignis Fatuus or will-o'-the-wisp, are faintly lights floating above a swamp or a bog. The lights are due to a chemical reaction induced by an organic decay. Phosphine’s chemiluminescent properties reacts with the methane and the oxygen in the air. In myths and legends those illusory ghost lights resembles lanterns that misleads travellers from the safe path.
